JIJI, hailed by The Washington Post for her captivating performances, is an innovative guitarist renowned for her mastery of a diverse repertoire spanning classical to free improvisation. Recognized for her virtuosity and dynamic stage presence, JIJI has earned acclaim as a leading guitarist of the 21st century.
Notably, The Washington Post selected JIJI as one of the "21 composers/performers who sound like tomorrow." Her solo recitals have graced prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, Lincoln Center, and the National Art Gallery. JIJI's performances have been featured on prominent platforms including PBS, NPR’s From the Top, and international broadcasts.
As a champion of new music, JIJI has premiered works by esteemed composers like David Lang, Steven Mackey, and Kate Moore. She is set to release UNBOUND in 2024, the culmination of her ambitious commissioning and recording project. A versatile collaborator, JIJI has performed with esteemed ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic and the Verona Quartet.
JIJI is also celebrated as a concerto soloist, having performed with orchestras including the Kansas City Symphony and the New York Youth Symphony. Her interpretations range from classical masterpieces like Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez to groundbreaking premieres of contemporary guitar concertos.
In addition to her performing career, JIJI is a dedicated educator, serving as Associate Professor of Guitar at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She shares her expertise through master classes worldwide.
Beyond her advocacy for contemporary music, JIJI is a composer in her own right and collaborates with artists from diverse genres. She is currently working on an EP with R&B singer Daniel Fears, set to release in the summer of 2024.
