Carmesí Guitar Duo is formed by Spanish guitarists Paola Requena and Isabel Martínez. After developing international careers as soloists that led them to perform on stages all over the world, they began to play together, thus discovering a special affinity and a similar way of understanding music.
They were born in Cartagena (Murcia), and studied under prof. Ignacio Rodes at Conservatorio Superior of Alicante. In 2020, they debuted as a duo at Auditorio de la Diputación de Alicante (ADDA).
Paola Requena is a top prizewinner at numerous international competitions including the Francisco Tárrega Competition (Benicasim, 2007), Printemps de la guitare de Charleroi (Belgium, 2008), Andrés Segovia International Competition (La Herradura, 2008), Comarca del Condado Competition (Jaén, 2003), among others. Graduated from the Ecole Nórmale de Musique in Paris with Alberto Ponce, Paola Requena has an active presence in European concert series and since 2007, she has been recording for Spanish television broadcast by TVE1, TVE2, Clan, Antena 3, and Tele 5, among others.
Isabel Martínez is regularly invited to attend international festivals and has performed in venues such as Milton Court- Barbican Center in London, National Theater of Costa Rica, Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in Armenia, or Hangzhou Grand Theater in the Republic of China, among others. She graduated with Distinction in the Master of Performance from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She is a graduate of the Master's Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Alicante and the Master's Degree in Research and Interpretation from the Conservatorio Superior of Alicante. Isabel Martínez combines her concert career with her passion for teaching at the Conservatorio de Música de San Javier, Murcia.
