"Aysegul Koca is a dedicated young guitarist. The combination of her solid technique and musical sensitivity ensures that she will have a promising future as a fine performer."

Thérèse Wassily Saba, Classical Guitar Magazine (2010), London.

Ayşegül Koca is one of the most acclaimed Turkish classical guitarists of her time. She has won numerous awards in national and international competitions. She is a regular guest at festivals and concert halls across Europe, North and South America. She has performed as a soloist with major orchestras including the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie (Germany), Moscow Sinfonietta Orchestra (Russia), Xalapa Guitar Orchestra and Silvestre Revueltas Youth Symphony Orchestra (Mexico), and Turkish orchestras such as the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Antalya Symphony Orchestra and Bursa State Symphony Orchestra. She released a live album in 2018 with Orchestra Academic Başkent.

She has toured extensively across the United States and Mexico, performing in prominent venues throughout states such as New York, Florida, California, and Oklahoma as well as regions in Mexico including Mexico City, Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Guerrero and Michoacán. Her performances have been featured on various radio and television programs in Turkey and abroad.

Koca continues to perform actively, both solo and in chamber music groups. She has been invited to perform, give masterclasses and serve on juries in countries such as Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, the United States, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Russia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Romania and Greece. In 2016, she was invited as a visiting professor at Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca (UABJO), Mexico. She is currently a faculty member at Ankara Music and Fine Arts University in Turkey. She combines her artistic career with cultural leadership as the founder and artistic director of the International Ankara Guitar Festival and Competition.

Koca holds a Doctorate in Music from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (Istanbul), and a Master’s degree from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Austria), where she studied under Paolo Pegoraro. During this period, she focused on contemporary repertoire and participated in various projects involving music for film and theater. Before that, she pursued her education at the Koblenz International Guitar Academy (Germany) studying with Aniello Desiderio and graduated with “Artist” and “Soloist” diplomas. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from the Conservatorium Maastricht (Netherlands) under Carlo Marchione. Her musical journey began at Bilkent University’s Music School in her hometown, Ankara, where she completed her secondary and high school education under the guidance of Kursad Terci and Kagan Korad. Her earliest training was shaped by her older brother —a mathematician and an amateur musician—whose support and mentorship played a formative role in her musical development.

In addition to her classical repertoire, Ayşegül Koca has cultivated a deep connection with the fretless guitar over the years. She occasionally incorporates this unique instrument into her performances, bridging Eastern and Western aesthetics through its distinctive tonal palette.
